Engaged

This photoshoot was done for my girlfriend’s sister’s engagement. It was my first time working with a couple. It was also my first time directing people so much. They took a while to loosen up but by the second location, they were relaxed. It was a very sunny day so I had to find shade to avoid harsh lighting. I also had to think of ways to make people who weren’t comfortable in front of cameras look natural.

Fair Time

This photoshoot was a lot of fun to do, I got to play around with neon lighting and cool angles that I normally wouldn’t get to use. It was also one of my most public photoshoots. Finding angles to hide bystanders and also watch out for pedestrians was a little bit of a challenge as it was quite busy at the boardwalk that day. The model was a little uncomfortable at first with people staring, but after we got warmed up it was okay. There were so many good locations to choose from by the boardwalk, it was hard to pick which ones we wanted to get to before it got dark.

Long-board

This photoshoot was in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. It was my first time shooting with the Sony a7iii camera. The model did not know how to ride a longboard, but we still got some great shots using it as a prop. The hardest thing about this shoot for me was the exporting process. I spent a lot of time researching the best settings for Instagram so that the quality would be crisp and not pixelated.

Christmas

This photoshoot was done to celebrate Christmas. I set up two soft boxes to help give an even light to the model. We used the tree as our main background, and added some fairy lights to create more of an atmosphere. This was my first time working with an animal in front of the camera, so I used dog treats to keep her attention. I think the fairy lights and the fluffy white dog really created a good Christmas photo.

Tanisha

Beginnings

this was my very first photoshoot. It was at a park during a cloudy day so I felt that it was easier for me to focus on angles instead of lighting. This was shot with my first camera, a Canon t6i and the kit lens, which was easy for me to learn with. There wasn’t many other people at the location, so I wasn’t distracted with trying to keep people out of the background of these photos. This was also my first time using white balance and Lightroom.

Downtown

Graduation

This photoshoot was for my girlfriend’s graduation from UNCW. We went to a few places around campus, including Chancellor’s Walk and the fountain between Leutze and Morton Hall. The pink dress complimented the blue water of the fountain well, and the lighting was easy to work with as it was golden hour. I played a lot with different focal lenses and colors in this shoot. Sometimes, I had to get a little creative with my backdrops at the fountain and use specific angles as there was a construction crew in the parking lot and some students coming to and from class.
