MARSHALL NUGENT

Downtown

Graduation

This photoshoot was for my girlfriend’s graduation from UNCW. We went to a few places around campus, including Chancellor’s Walk and the fountain between Leutze and Morton Hall. The pink dress complimented the blue water of the fountain well, and the lighting was easy to work with as it was golden hour. I played a lot with different focal lenses and colors in this shoot. Sometimes, I had to get a little creative with my backdrops at the fountain and use specific angles as there was a construction crew in the parking lot and some students coming to and from class.

Airlie

Waterfall

This photoshoot took place in Brevard, North Carolina at Pisgah Forest in front of Triple Falls and Hunter lake, where the the Hunger Games was shot. The location in front of the waterfall had actually been roped off since the last time I went, but we went anyways. It was very slippery on the rocks so I had to make sure not only to keep myself and the camera safe, but the model too. I had to mess a lot with the settings of my camera so that the white of the waterfall was not overexposed. I also got to play a lot with harsh lighting and shadows in this shoot, which wasn’t something I had done before.

Neon Shoot

This photoshoot was my first shoot with neon lights. I played a lot with the ISO on my camera, and often shot these photos dark so that the neon light was not overexposed when I brightened them up in Lightroom. I had also brought along some reflective sunglasses to use. Sometimes, editing the windows were hard because some of them were pretty dirty. This was also the first time I had to deal with pesky bystanders coming up and hitting on the model, it was very distracting to politely urge them away.

Coffee with Tayler developed into a quick photoshoot. The shooting location was Bespoke located downtown Wilmington.
